Waco ISD hosted the G.W. Carver Middle School Groundbreaking ceremony on May 6, 2022. Special guests included the G.W. Carver Alumni Historical Advisory Committee, former G.W. Carver students, current G.W. Carver and Indian Spring students, and many community members. Follow this link to learn more about the event.
The Carver Alumni Historical Advisory Committee is currently working with the district on a special art installation for the new campus. A local artist will help bring Carver's rich history to life using artifacts that were provided by the committee. Click here for more photos.
Carver Middle School Student Ambassadors
The Carver Middle School Student Ambassadors will be participating in their first site tour on Thursday. The group of 40 students will participate in this engagement exercise to help them establish ownership of the new building; to cultivate an understanding that the community is providing this new building for them; to expose the students to the construction world and the opportunities that it provides; to build relationships with the professionals that are engaged in the design and construction process; to connect what they see on the job site with the learning they are doing in the classroom. G.W. Carver staff and district leaders recently participated in a day-long workshop with DLR Group’s BOLD™ (Bridging Organization, Learning, and Design) Team. Activities included creating a guiding purpose, designing the day in the life of a future middle school student, and identifying priorities to maintain a clear focus on what is important for teaching and learning when supported with appropriate spaces, technology, furniture, and safety and security.
We can't wait to watch our students and staff flourish as these practices are applied at the new G. W. Carver Middle School! Click here for more photos.
