    STAAR / EOC Exams

Dear Parent/Guardian of Wiley Opportunity Center Students,

As you may remember, all STAAR testing was cancelled last year due to the state COVID

shut-down. This year the Texas Education Agency (TEA) is requiring school districts to

administer the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) to students in

grades 3 – 8 and STAAR End-of-Course assessments (EOCs) in middle and high school

for students taking high school courses where an EOC is required.

While Waco ISD has provided for both remote and in-person instruction during the

2020-2021 school year, TEA will not allow us to administer testing online for remote

students. All testing for all Wiley Opportunity Center students must be conducted on-site.

The 2020-2021 Student Assessment Testing Calendar Dates are as follows:

Date Grade Level/Test Date Grade Level/Test

April 6 (Tue) Grade 4 & 7 Writing, English I April 8 (Thu) English II

April 13 (Tue) Grade 4 & 7 Writing, English I April 15 (Thu) English II

April 20 (Tue) Grade 4 & 7 Writing, English I April 22 (Thu) English II

April 27 (Tue) Grade 4 & 7 Writing, English I April 29 (Thu) English II

Please know that we will ensure that all students practice social distancing and sanitizing

procedures to safeguard your child while they are on our campus completing their testing.

In years past, students were required to remain on campus for the duration of the test. For

Spring 2021, students are allowed to leave campus upon completing the assessment, with

parent approval. However, transportation will not be available for students who leave

before the end of the school day. Students eligible for transportation and learning remotely

may ride the bus to and from school on the day assessments are administered, or parents

can choose to drop-off/pick-up their student(s). School lunch will be available.

If you have further questions or need clarification, please contact your campus for

    more specific testing information.
