Mrs. Dusty Donalson

Biography: Hello! My name is Dusty Donalson and I am your 8th grade Counselor this year! This is my second year here at Cesar Chavez, but my 6th year as a school counselor.  I started as a teacher in 2010 after graduating from UTSA, and have taught grades 4th-10th grades. I received my Master’s Degree in School Counseling from the University of the Southwest in 2015, and really enjoy being able to help students reach their full potential. I have been married to my incredible husband for six years, and we have a sweet and very active four year old named Jaxton. I enjoy traveling, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

My Why: As the first person in my family to not only graduate from high school, but also go to college and get a master’s degree, I’m a living example of education being the most powerful tool to defeat generational cycles of poverty and increase opportunities for success.  I think it’s important for students to understand that despite any challenges they face, they can overcome them if they work hard enough. “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”- Ralph Waldo Emerson.
