Voluntary Teacher Lateral Transfers
-
Process for the 2024-2025 School Year
Each spring the teacher open transfer window occurs, providing eligible teachers the opportunity to apply for a transfer to available positions at other campuses for which they are qualified and interested for the following school year.
When: March 1, 2024 through 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2024
How: Create an account in Frontline, complete and submit an Internal/Transfer application at: https://www.applitrack.com/wacoisd/onlineapp
You can attach an updated resume, cover letter/letter of interest, and any other relevant information. Transcripts and teaching certifications are not needed unless HR does not already have them.
Who: Any teacher who wants to transfer to another campus. View eligibility criteria below.
What: As you navigate through the application, you will be able to apply for both posted (actual openings) and pooled (to indicate an interest in various grade levels/subjects pending an actual vacancy) positions.
*The application/transfer request must be submitted by the March 31 deadline for open positions and to be considered for future vacancies at another campus.
-
Eligibility Criteria
Teachers who do not submit a transfer application/request by the March 31st deadline will not be eligible for a lateral transfer to another campus.
Principals recommending a teacher for a transfer must submit the hiring/transfer recommendation to Human Resources by June 3, 2024. Lateral transfers will not be allowed after June 3, 2024.
1. Not be on a growth plan;
2. Not have an “Unsatisfactory” rating on the most current evaluation; and
3. Be rated as overall "Proficient" or better in all Domains of their most recent T-TESS Observation or Summative appraisal.
The transfer request is only honored when a hiring principal makes a recommendation to Human Resources. The transfer is not official until confirmation has been sent to the teacher by a member of the Human Resources staff. Teachers not selected for transfer prior to June 3, 2024 shall remain at their current campus for the 2024-2025 school year.
The open transfer window does not apply to a teacher applying for a promotional opportunity (such as a teacher to a professional/instructional specialist, counselor, or administrator position) or to non-teaching staff (aides, librarians, instructional specialists, assistant principals, etc.).
Teachers seeking a promotion or non-teachers requesting a transfer or seeking promotional opportunities, must complete the internal application/transfer request in Frontline (same as above), however, there is not a strict deadline (window) for applying or being recommended. For promotions, current staff must apply and will be considered along with all other qualified applicants, go through the interview process and be recommended to Human Resources by the hiring principal/supervisor.
